Ashish Sen

Ashish is an independent media consultant, community radio educator and advocate. He has over 30 years’ cross-sectoral experience in development communications, print, broadcast, theatre and community media, development education and programme management. He is currently Advisor to the Board of AMARC Asia Pacific and was earlier President of the Board.  He has also been professionally associated with organisations like VOICES, and ActionAid India in the past.

Ashish is also Editor of Community Radio News, a newsletter managed by the UNESCO Chair on Community Media; Course Director, Community Communications, Convergence Institute of Media Management and Information Technology; and Visiting Faculty at Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Symbiosis International University.

Ashish has been actively engaged with theatre for social change in Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. He is currently a theatre and media consultant with Interweave Consulting Private Limited and Innnobridge Consulting Private Limited. He is also a Trustee of the Dev Nandan Ubhayeker Trust.


Saswati Chakravarty

Saswati is a senior journalist who has, over the last few years, been working towards creating an information architecture that will facilitate the integration of small India with growing India – the power of micro markets.

In 2010, Saswati founded Bhasha News Media, a multi-language development media platform which seeks to create a more inclusive media built around the theme of social justice and of which she is currently the Managing Director and Chief Editor.

Saswati has more than three decades of journalistic experience. She spent 22 years at The Economic Times, essaying senior journalistic roles. She successfully incubated, set up and launched three major metropolitan editions of The Economic Times in completely diverse socio-economic environments.

Saswati also teaches journalism at the PG level as visiting faculty at Commits and the National School of Journalism. She supports start-ups across the spectrum, is a member on the advisory board of start-up incubator Excubator, and is available to all who believe in a cause.


Vasanthi Hariprakash

“Vasanthi is an independent journalist, an event anchor, a presenter and a media strategist, all in one. She has anchored various events and conferences across the country and overseas too. She also writes, trains and advises individuals and institutions on how to leverage the media, and moderates debates and panel discussions. She has recently turned founder of Pickle Jar, a platform to curate film festivals and programs of social relevance.

Prior to this, Vasanthi was a special correspondent at NDTV 24×7, anchor for a documentary series that aired on BBC World News, primetime breakfast show anchor on Radio City 91.1 FM and a sub-editor on the New Indian Express desk.”


Velu Shankar

“Velu is an Independent Media Consultant and has been associated with community media, media training and community communication for nearly 9 years now.

Prior to that, Velu was associated with WorldSpace India Pvt Ltd. and Radio City in different capacities. He was part of the start up team which launched Channel [V], the first Music TV Channel with Indian Focus, in 1994.

Velu has over 20 years of experience in Indian media comprising of television, radio & online media. He specialises in media start ups.”
